DRONE OPERATIONS & FAA COMPLIANCE
Effective Date: 18 JUNE 2026
Sentinel Wildlife Recovery & Rural Drone Services is a registered fictitious name of Sentinel SkyWorks, LLC. This Drone Operations & FAA Compliance page explains the general standards, limitations, and compliance considerations that apply to our commercial drone operations.
FAA-Certified Commercial Drone Operations
Commercial drone operations are conducted by FAA Part 107 certified remote pilots or otherwise qualified operators where applicable and legally permitted.
All drone operations are subject to Federal Aviation Administration rules, airspace restrictions, Remote ID requirements, aircraft registration requirements, weather conditions, equipment capability, safety considerations, pilot availability, mission purpose, and applicable federal, state, and local law.
Remote Pilot in Command Authority
The remote pilot in command has final authority over each drone operation.
The remote pilot in command may decline, delay, modify, suspend, or terminate any flight if conditions are unsafe, unlawful, impractical, outside equipment capability, inconsistent with FAA requirements, or inconsistent with company safety procedures.
Client preference, urgency, or payment does not override pilot authority, FAA regulations, airspace restrictions, safety requirements, or applicable law.
Airspace Review
Before conducting a drone operation, we may review the applicable airspace, flight location, mission purpose, altitude requirements, nearby airports, restricted areas, temporary flight restrictions, weather, and site-specific risks.
Some locations may require FAA authorization, LAANC approval, additional planning, or may not be available for drone operations.
Service requests near airports, controlled airspace, military facilities, stadiums, emergency scenes, prisons, sensitive infrastructure, or restricted areas may be delayed, limited, or declined.
Remote ID and Aircraft Requirements
Drone operations are subject to applicable FAA Remote ID and aircraft registration requirements.
Where required, aircraft used in commercial operations must be properly registered, marked, maintained, and operated in compliance with applicable FAA requirements.
Weather and Environmental Limitations
Drone operations may be affected by:
Wind
Rain
Snow
Fog
Low visibility
Low light
Temperature
Humidity
Terrain
Tree canopy
Obstructions
Power lines
Buildings
Wildlife
People, vehicles, livestock, or other site activity
Weather or site conditions may prevent or limit a flight even if service has been requested or scheduled.
Visual Line of Sight and Operational Limits
Drone operations are subject to applicable visual line of sight requirements, altitude limitations, airspace requirements, flight-over-people limitations, flight-over-moving-vehicles limitations, nighttime operation requirements, and other FAA rules.
Certain missions may require additional planning, waivers, authorizations, visual observers, adjusted flight areas, or operational limitations.
Landowner Permission and Property Access
FAA compliance does not grant permission to enter private property, recover animals, access land, cross property lines, open gates, or conduct ground activity without lawful authority.
Clients are responsible for obtaining necessary property access, landowner permission, and any other required authorization related to the requested service.
We may decline or stop a mission if property access, landowner permission, privacy concerns, trespass concerns, or site safety conditions are not adequately addressed.
Privacy and Responsible Operations
Sentinel Wildlife Recovery & Rural Drone Services conducts drone operations for legitimate service purposes, such as search assistance, aerial documentation, rural property mapping, landowner support, and related lawful activities.
We do not use drones for unlawful surveillance, harassment, trespass support, stalking, privacy invasion, or any activity prohibited by law.
Emergency, Law Enforcement, and Public Safety Activity
Drone operations may be restricted or prohibited near emergency scenes, law enforcement activity, wildfire activity, public safety operations, disaster response, medical helicopters, or temporary flight restrictions.
We will not interfere with manned aircraft, emergency responders, law enforcement, public safety operations, or active incidents.
Any work involving public agencies, law enforcement, or emergency response support must be lawful, authorized, and operationally appropriate.
Night Operations
Night operations, if offered, are subject to FAA requirements, aircraft lighting requirements, pilot qualification, site safety, weather conditions, visibility, operational feasibility, and applicable law.
Not all missions can be safely or legally performed at night.
Thermal Drone Operations
Thermal drone operations are subject to the same FAA, safety, airspace, weather, and operational limitations as other drone operations.
Thermal imagery has limitations and should be interpreted as search assistance or visual support only. A heat signature does not guarantee identification, location, condition, ownership, or legal status of an animal, object, or person.
Maintenance and Safety Practices
We strive to operate with appropriate safety practices, including preflight checks, equipment review, battery monitoring, aircraft condition review, site assessment, and documentation.
A flight may be delayed or canceled due to aircraft condition, battery concerns, firmware issues, controller issues, sensor limitations, weather, or other operational concerns.
Independent Contractor Pilots
Sentinel Wildlife Recovery & Rural Drone Services may use or coordinate with independent contractor pilots where appropriate.
Independent contractor pilots are responsible for maintaining their own FAA credentials, aircraft registration, Remote ID compliance, equipment, insurance, operational compliance, and tax obligations. Pilots are expected to follow company standards, client communication protocols, safety procedures, and documentation requirements.
No Guarantee of Flight Approval or Completion
Submission of a service request does not guarantee that a drone operation will be approved, scheduled, launched, completed, or successful.
Mission feasibility is evaluated based on FAA requirements, airspace, safety, weather, property access, legal restrictions, equipment capability, and pilot discretion.
State and Local Law
FAA compliance does not eliminate the need to comply with state wildlife law, hunting law, trespass law, privacy law, animal control law, landowner permission requirements, local ordinances, or other applicable rules.
Clients remain responsible for understanding and complying with laws related to their own conduct, property access, hunting activity, animal handling, recovery efforts, and service requests.
